What makes YOU truly happy?
I’m not talking about reaching your goal weight, getting a beautiful gift or winning the lottery. I’m wondering about what makes you feel a deep contentment and inner peace, no matter what your external environment may be throwing at you?
If you are looking to ‘insert’ a bit of positivity into your life, consider the following hacks…
-
Stillness. Can you commit to spending 10 minutes in complete stillness everyday? No phone, no music, no eating, no movement… just complete focus on your breath. Those that do, have the ability to tap into this feeling of peace when life gets stressful or chaotic. But it needs to be a consistent practice in order to reap the benefits. I have found that once people get into the habit and start to realize it’s potential, they start to actually look forward to their ‘stillness’ each day!
-
Reframe. Think about situations with regards to the cup being half full (not half empty). If a disappointing situation comes up, try looking at the positive and be grateful for what you DO have. For example, if it rains on your outdoor party, be grateful for your friends, the birds, the fresh air...instead of fixating on the negative. There is always a silver lining to be found!
-
Kindness. Be the person that smiles at strangers, says hello to the person in the line, stops to let someone in in a traffic jam. This one gets two birds stoned at once….it not only makes THAT person happy, it will also make YOU feel happier!
-
Childish. What did you like to do as a kid? Quick….don’t overthink it. Ok, now go do more of that. Simple. But powerful. Remember to make time for your hobbies and the things you truly enjoy. This can be a game-changer.
-
Sleep. Make sleep a priority and the day will always look brighter. There are many ways to improve your sleep -- you just need to be intentional about it. But keeping the phone and Netflix in check makes a huge difference! Make your sleep awesome...it really DOES make a difference on your outlook and your mood. And it truly is our foundation for health.
